WSOP 2013, ad un passo dal sogno!

Casa dolce casa! Questa è la frase che negli ultimi anni ho pronunciato durante questo periodo, perchè è da circa 3 anni che passo durante l'estate almeno 30 giorni l'anno ne La Mecca del poker, Las Vegas.

Tornare in Sicilia per me è sempre un momento bellissimo in cui posso rivedere la mia famiglia e godermi le bellezze della mia isola. Però quest'anno, per la prima volta mi sono potuto godere il viaggio e Las Vegas già un pò mi manca.
Il fatto di non dover più grindare online secondo quei ritmi assurdi di prima mi sta permettendo di vivere più rilassato, più in pace con me stesso e come conseguenza quando mi siedo a giocare riesco sempre a giocare il mio miglior Poker, e si vede.

Quest'anno inoltre sono arrivato davvero vicino a coronare un sogno, diventare un "November nine".
Sono arrivato 151° su circa 6500 partecipanti nel torneo più importante del mondo, il Main Event delle World Series of Poker. Ho anche subito quella che è probabilmente la più costosa bad beat della mia carriera quando sono uscito AK contro KK per un pot di circa una volte e mezzo l'avarage che col senno di poi non so quanto poteva valere visto che il primo premio era di circa $8.500.000.
Tutto sommato non mi posso lamentare e sono davvero felice!
Sono molto soddisfatto dei miglioramenti ottenuti ai tavoli da poker, soprattutto live, durante l'ultimo periodo. Da quando ho vinto l'IPT di Saint Vincent sono cresciuto in tutti i sensi dando uno schiaffo a quelle persone che non credevano in me.
Ho più fiducia in me stesso ma ho anche più esperienza, fattore che conta davvero tanto in questo gioco.
Ogni torneo è una partita indipendente da tutte le altre ed ogni partita bisogna dare il massimo, anche se si deve combattere spesso contro la sfortuna. Il poker è secondo me uno sport caratterizzato da "errori invisibili". Quando sei out da un torneo per un errore sei out e basta. Ma la vita è fatta di "sliding doors" o di "carpe diem" e nel Poker, soprattutto nei grossi tornei, il "non commettere" un errore può valere anche milioni di dollari che possono cambiare la vita di chiunque.

Se continuerò così, lottando, dando il massimo e cercando di commettere il minor numero di errori sarò soddisfatto e sono sicuro che continuerò ad ottenere risultati soddisfacenti.

Home sweet home! This is the sentence I usually say during this period. This because last 3 years during the summer I spent at least 30 days a at "La Mecca" of poker, Las Vegas.

The return to Sicily for me is always a beautiful moment when I can see my family and enjoy the beauty of my island. But this year, for the first time I have been able to really enjoy the trip and I already miss Las Vegas!
The fact of being not forced to grind too much online, according to those absurd rhythms I had before, makes me able to live more relaxed, more in peace with myself and as a result when I sit down to play I can always play my best poker.

This year also I was really close to realize a dream becoming a "November Nine".
I finished 151st of about 6500 entrants in the most important tournament in the world, the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. I also lost what is probably the most expensive bad beat of my career when my AK lost against KK for a pot of about one and a half time the avarage which was worth very very much considering the first prize was about $ 8.5 million.
By the way I can't complain and I'm really happy! I'm very happy about the improvements achieved at the poker tables ,especially live, during the last period. Since I won the IPT of Saint Vincent I'm a more mature person and player. I gave a big slap to those people who did not believe on my person and on my skills.
I feel more confident with myself but I also have more experience which is really important in this game.
Each tournament is a competition independent from any other and each game you have to give your best, even if you are very unlucky sometime. I think poker is a sport marked from "invisible mistakes". When you're out from a tournament due to an error you are just out. But life is made of sliding doors or "carpe diem". Especially in big tournaments, the "do not make a mistake" can be worth millions of dollars sometime for a life changing.

If I will continue like this, fighting, doing my best and doing less mistakes as possibile at poker tables I will be satisfied and I am sure that I will continue to get good results.

Sono davvero onorato di essere stato scelto tra gli 8 giocatori che sono stati nominati come i giocatori di Poker più promettenti del 2013 a livello mondiale alla prima edizione dei "PokerListings Awards"

"Per quanto sia sempre molto difficile assegnare un qualsiasi “premio di poker, è evidente che qualunque sia il motivo della vittoria, la base sia sempre quella di aver compiuto un’impresa tale da meritare il riconoscimento da parte l’intera comunità.
Certo, i risultati sono importanti, ma sono i giocatori che portano innovazione, passione e positività al tavolo a fare del poker quel fantastico gioco che conosciamo, non le loro vittorie.

Anche perché, in fin dei conti, sono solo loro quelli che presto potrebbero cambiare il poker e farlo diventare un gioco ancora più bello di quello che conosciamo oggi."
