Prologo WSOP 2012: ev. #43-44-46

Peccato! Uscivano come mosche e il primo premio era $500k circa. Ma that's poker!

- Evento #46, NLHE $2500

In questi giorni cosa farò?

Las Vegas hasn’t been a lucky place for me to be in 2011.
Things seem to have changed this year though.
I arrived in Sin City on the 22nd of June after an extremely tiring 22 hours journey.
I played 3 events since now (5 to go); I haven’t achieved anything amazing yet but I must admit I am quite satisfied with the way I have been playing since now. It’s been a great success to finish in the money at the WSOP for the first time in my career.
This is a short summary of what’s happened until now.

Event #43, NLHE $1,500
This is certainly the only event I am not happy about. I didn’t make any serious mistakes but luck was not by my side. I sat at the table and all of a sudden I was out in less than 20 minutes. What happened? I played AA vs. 88 twice with an 8 on the board. I managed to save my entire stack the first time (with some “pot control”) but the second time my stack was quite reduced and it was impossible to avoid elimination.

Event #44, NLHE $1,000
I really played excellent poker here. I played all my showdowns at the right spot. I lost my coin flips against short stacks, I won them every time it was me the short stack. I can’t complain nor regret anything. I have been eliminated 201st place with a coin flip AK vs. 88 (pot was 55k and average stack 30k). What a pity. Players kept busting one after the other and first prize was 500k. Well, that’s poker!

Event #46, NLHE $2,500
Right after my last hand at the Day 2 of the event #44 I run towards the tables to register at the event #46, two hours after the tournament started. I couldn’t play one hand for at least two hours considering it took me some time to get used to the new blinds not to mention I was totally cards dead. Once I got used to the new tournament and players around I started to play some good poker and increased my stack up to 20k (I started with 7,500).
Around end of day 1 I decided to push my TT which unfortunately clashed against a pair of Kings. What a pity; I could have won a 55k pot, not bad considering the average was 20k. But I do not regret my decision as that could have made me the chip leader.

I haven’t achieved anything big yet but I am really happy with the game I played and this gives me hope for the next tournaments here in Las Vegas.
The first three days have been totally dedicated to playing poker.
Next event will be #53, $1,500 NLHE on the 30th of June.
What am I going to do these days? I will try to relax and enjoy! Swimming pool during daytime; cash games and a few shows together with my girlfriend at night.

I want to play poker as much as I can and that’s for sure!

I’ll keep you updated!

WSOP 2012, Presente!

Let's fly to Las Vegas!

I am planning to attend WSOP 2012. These are the events I am going to play.

I will leave my hometown of Catania on the 22nd of June and arrive in Rome where my flight to New York departs. I will be in in Las Vegas late at night.
I am going to stay in Las Vegas at least until the 12th of July. In the event I survive the first few days of the Main event I will have no choice but to extend my stay (hopefully till November Lol).
I will stay at the PALMS PLACE for the first 10 days (closer to RIO but much better in terms of quality), and then at the Venetian.

I'll try to do my best for sure, especially because i need to give myself another chance after my last WSOP one year ago, which was a collection of unlucky tournaments.

Unfortunately I won't be able to play online on PokerStars from the United States. That's the reason why you won't see me active at the tables.
You can still follow me on Facebook, Twitter and my blog as usual, where I will post news and live updates on a daily basis and much, much more... because there's a lot more than poker in Las Vegas!
By the way, can anybody suggest me what to do in Las Vegas when you don't play poker (swimming pools, restaurants and so on...)?

I am looking forward to seat at the poker tables at the RIO Casino!
